World Penguin Day
Today is World Penguin Day 2024.
Here are three facts to celebrate the day...

Penguins are the only birds in the world that can swim but cannot fly.
- Emperor penguins are amazing divers. The deepest recorded dive was 564m, which is the equivalent of almost twice the height of the Shard. The longest recorded dive was nearly an incredible 32 minutes.
- There are 18 different species of penguins. They vary in shape and size but they all have black bodies and white bellies. This allows them to hide from predators like seals and orcas while they swim.
Penguins are amazing birds, they may be cute, but don't be fooled, they are tough. We must do all we can to help them to not just survive but thrive.
